USCIS photo guide

USCIS Photos Online - Instant Digital + Prints Delivered

Several USCIS forms, including Form I-765 for work permits, still instruct you to include two passport-style photos. Since December 12, 2025, USCIS uses photos it takes at biometrics for cards and other secure documents, and it may reuse a biometrics photo from the last 36 months.

Which USCIS forms ask for photos

Check the photo section of your form’s instructions. Form I-765 currently asks for two photos; others, like Form I-90, normally do not ask you to send any.

Forms I-90, I-485, N-400, and N-600 always require a fresh biometrics appointment, where USCIS takes a new photo.

Printing and labeling

Print the 4x6 sheet at a photo lab at actual size, then cut two photos along the guides.

  • Use photo paper, not plain paper
  • Label the back lightly in pencil so the ink does not bleed through
  • Do not staple through the face
  • Keep the digital file in case USCIS asks for a replacement

Frequently Asked Questions

Does USCIS still accept passport photos?

Include them when your form’s instructions ask. Since December 12, 2025, USCIS uses its own biometrics photos on cards and secure documents rather than self-submitted photos.

Do I need photos for Form I-765?

Yes. As of early 2026, the I-765 instructions still ask for two passport-style photos.

How recent must a USCIS photo be?

Taken within 30 days of filing.
