A U.S. passport card uses exactly the same photo as a passport book: 2x2 inches, color, plain white or off-white background, taken within the last six months. You can apply for the card on its own or together with a book on Form DS-11 or DS-82.

Card, book, or both
The passport card is valid for land and sea travel to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda, and it works as REAL ID–compliant identification at TSA checkpoints. It cannot be used for international air travel.

- Even light with no shadows on the face or background
