Global Entry & TSA PreCheck guide

Global Entry & PreCheck Photo Taken at Your Interview

You do not upload a photo when you apply for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. CBP captures your photo and fingerprints at the interview or Enrollment on Arrival, and TSA does the same at its enrollment centers. What you need is a valid passport — and that passport needs a compliant photo.

Where the photo comes from

After conditional approval, you complete a short interview with CBP, either at an enrollment center or on arrival at a participating airport. The officer takes your photo and fingerprints there.

TSA PreCheck works the same way at TSA enrollment centers. Neither program asks you to supply a photo.

When a photo does help

Global Entry requires a valid passport. If yours is expired or close to expiring, renew it first — renewal needs a 2x2 photo taken within the last six months.

  • Renew online or by mail with a new passport photo
  • Bring the new passport to your Global Entry interview
  • Update your passport number in your Trusted Traveler account
